A Bel Air mom had a collection of Powerball tickets from December and when she checked them last week, she discovered she had a $50,000 winner from the Dec. 10 drawing.
“I called my husband and told him the news. He didn’t believe me. He thought I was joking,” she said Jan. 21 when she claimed the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
At the time of the Dec. 10 drawing, the jackpot was at $930 million, on its way to $1.82 billion, before being won by an Arkansas player in the Christmas Eve drawing.
The winning numbers for the Dec. 10 Powerball drawing, were: 10, 16, 29, 33, 69 and a Powerball of 22. The Harford County resident came very close as she had four of the first five numbers and the Powerball for the third-tier prize of $50,000. She had the number 61 instead of 69.
The woman is a regular player and purchases one ticket for each of the three weekly Powerball drawings when the jackpot reaches an average to large amount. She acknowledged it was a little nerve-wrecking to be so close to winning $930 million.
“I was one number off, but I’m still happy with $50,000,” she said with a smile
According to the big winner, she plans to pay bills and might purchase a new car.
The winning ticket was purchased at Klein’s Shoprite at 223 North Main Street in Bel Air.
