An Upper Marlboro woman who works in law enforcement was smiling when she checked her tickets and saw she won $50,000 on Pick 5 in the evening drawing on March 10.
“I was stunned and shocked, but I was definitely happy,” she said.
Unlike many Lottery players who purchase tickets daily, this casual player said she doesn’t play every day and buys a ticket “from time to time.” In this case, she placed a single $1 straight bet.
She said she used the five-digit number of a familiar address to secure the top prize. She has been playing that same combination for years and it finally paid off.
“I won it boxed, but never like this. I can’t believe I won it straight,” the Prince George’s County resident said. She plans to use her winnings to pay off bills.
The Soda Pop Shop at 337 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie is also a winner as the Anne Arundel County retailer receives a 1% bonus totaling $500.
Through March 15, box your numbers when you play Pick 3, Pick 4, or Pick 5 for a chance at a double payout. If you get a “Double Pay on Box Play” message at the top of your ticket, you’ll win twice the cash if your numbers hit. Available on $1 box plays only.
