Harford County Man Brings Home Magical $50,000 Keno Prize

Special numbers, Super Bonus option deliver a spectacular win

Some years ago, a Forest Hill man was out with friends and decided to play a few games of Keno. He filled out his playslip with random numbers and, to his surprise, won some cash. Accepting those numbers as lucky, he has continued to play them over the years, winning decent amounts here and there. Those random numbers recently came through for a $50,000 prize, which is his biggest Keno payday yet.

The player found his Lottery luck waiting at Forest Hill Sunoco, where he stopped to buy gas. The Harford County resident said he only plays his special numbers when a lucky feeling comes over him as it did that day.

The winner purchased a seven-spot Keno ticket for three drawings and added the Super Bonus multiplier to his ticket. He watched the first game, which had no hits, put his ticket in his wallet and headed home.

Later in the day, the big winner remembered to check his ticket for a win. He was blown away by what he saw.

“I checked the ticket using the app on my phone and that’s when the magic happened,” he said, smiling. “It was unbelievable, so I closed out the app and then reopened it to scan a second time.”

Again, the message showed that he was a $50,000 winner. He ran to show the ticket and phone app message to his wife. Next, for a third confirmation, he visited the Lottery’s website to watch his winning drawing.

“I had to watch the game,” he told Lottery officials when he claimed his prize. “I wanted to see my numbers actually coming out.”

The happy dad said he plans to use his winnings for a family vacation and will put the rest into a retirement account and into savings.

The Harford County retailer that sold the winning Keno ticket also benefits from the win. Forest Hill Sunoco, located at 2019 Rock Spring Road, will receive a bonus of $500 from the Lottery for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
