Keno Fan Wins $64,000 on 10-spot Wager

Super Bonus addition to ticket gives Washington, D.C., resident big prize

A Washington, D.C., man who is a Maryland Lottery fan landed a $64,000 Keno win on May 2 at a Bethesda retailer.

The 49-year-old visited Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service to place a 10-spot wager for three drawings using the numbers 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79 and 80. He then added the Super Bonus multiplier feature to his ticket, which gives players the chance to multiply their Keno winnings up to 20 times and guarantees they will at least double their payout if they win. In the last of the three drawings on his ticket, nine of his 10 numbers hit, and the Super Bonus multiplier was x4.

The lucky winner said he was watching the monitor with a friend when he saw his numbers appear, one by one. He added that he has kept his win very quiet and plans to pay debts with his prize. Playing a 10-spot game is an unusual choice for him, the winner said, as he typically places a 7-spot or 8-spot wagers.

His lucky Lottery retailer can celebrate, too. For its role in selling the winning ticket, Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service at 5234 River Road in Bethesda earns a $640 bonus from the sale. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
