Laundry Worker Cleans Up with $100,000 Scratch-off Win

Claims first top prize on 50X The Cash game

A Springdale resident enjoyed an “Xtreme” reward for giving in to an urge to pursue her favorite hobby — playing Maryland Lottery games. Her tempting 50X The Cash scratch-off purchase led to an “Xcellent” windfall on the $10 member of the “X” Multiplier family of scratch-off games. She won the game’s first $100,000 top prize!

The Prince George’s County laundry worker, who is calling herself “Lucky Laundrette,” told Lottery officials how her path to unexpected fortune unfolded. Like many Marylanders, she was wrung out by the challenges of 2020, which caused upheaval within her family, wellness and financial issues. One thing that remained constant was the work the 53-year-old performed at a local uniform company. Demand for the uniform service actually increased as they worked to supply area essential services and frontline workers with clean uniforms.

“They don’t close and neither do we,” said “Lucky Laundrette.”

While taking a break from her increasing workload, the scratch-off player was tempted to indulge in her favorite pastime. “Lucky Laundrette” gave in to temptation and visited nearby Lottery retailer Ardwick Liquors in Landover. The game that caught her eye was the flashy orange 50X The Cash scratch-off, which isemblazoned with a large 50X.

“After scratching the ticket, I scanned it using the ticket checker and immediately saw a ‘Congratulations,’” she said. “All I could do was hold my breath and, when the prize amount displayed, my heart leapt. Ain’t God good!”

The lucky winner says the $100,000 prize will help her hit the reset button on some of the setbacks of last year. “Lucky Laundrette” plans to pay off bills and long-term debt with her windfall.

The 50X The Cash scratch-off launched with a family of X Multiplier games on Jan. 18. The five games offer “xtra xciting” ways to win instant prizes of up to $1 million and second-chance prizes of up to $50,000.

This $10 game has nine additional $100,000 top prizes remaining, a dozen unclaimed $50,000 prizes as well as thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000. For a limited time, players can enter non-winning X Multiplier scratch-offs into a second-chance promotion for additional chances to win cash prizes.

Players can find her lucky retailer, Ardwick Liquors, at 8307 Ardwick-Ardmore Road in Prince George’s County. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $100,000, the retailer has earned a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
