Jocelyn Quinitchette of Laurel is our latest rolling cash jackpot winner from the MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion. She was randomly selected from more than 14 million entries to win $112,853.
The Prince George’s County resident received a voicemail from a Lottery official that she was a winner, but wanted to verify at mdlottery.com. When she went to the site, she saw her name as the rolling cash jackpot winner, but wasn’t wearing her glasses. Jocelyn thought she only won $12,852.
“I told my mom that I won $12,000. I was happy with $12,000. I didn’t realize it was over $112,000,” she said with a smile.
Jocelyn recently retired from a non-profit group and plans to use her prize to purchase a new car.
She is a loyal My Lottery Rewards player and said she enjoys entering tickets to receive an extra chance to win.
Jocelyn won the prize in the May 6 drawing. Five other winners took home $5,000.
The family of MONOPOLY games from the Maryland Lottery and licensed by Scientific Games, LLC. went on sale Jan. 13, and includes six tickets ranging in price from $1 to $30. Players who enter non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards are automatically entered into the second-chance promotion for a chance to win a rolling cash jackpot or cash prize.
The jackpots start at $10,000 and grow until its drawing dates. The first rolling cash jackpot winner was Jenelle Ballard of Glen Burnie.
The final rolling cash jackpot will be announced during the final drawing on July 1, with a June 30 deadline. Five $5,000 winners will be selected each month through July 1. The next deadline for a $5,000 prize is June 2.
