Frederick woman claims $50,000 Powerball prize
A Frederick bus driver is doing more these days than transporting passengers on highways. She found the road to riches and has put herself on a fast track to wealth with a winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000.
The lucky lady bought the winning ticket at A-1 Mart located at 649 Himes Avenue in Frederick. She’s played the same random numbers for five years but on Feb. 22, had a special feeling when the time came to buy a ticket for that night’s drawing. She spent $10 and used her own numbers all five lines. The next morning, while enjoying a cup of tea, the Western Maryland resident checked the Maryland Lottery website and saw she was a third-tier winner.
Ecstatic about her discovery, the loyal player yelled out to her son to share the news. She sounded so excited that her son feared she had fallen and was injured. He was quite relieved to learn she was screaming with joy over a big Lottery win.
The Powerball fan plans to use some of her winnings for her son’s future college expenses. The remainder will go toward savings and investments. When she’s not working or playing Lottery games, the Frederick County resident enjoys spending her time watching sports and going for walks.
There’s still time to buy a ticket for the Saturday, March 1 Powerball drawing. The estimated jackpot annuity is $272 million and the cash option is $124.4 million.
