Lucky Numbers Inspired by Neighbor’s Address Earn $50,000 Pick 5 Win

A longtime Maryland Lottery fan from Prince George’s County is celebrating his latest big win, a $50,000 score on the Pick 5 game.

Accompanied by his son, the winner stopped by Lottery headquarters on Oct. 30 to claim his prize and share the story behind his winning number choice.

The winner, who describes himself as a “Lottery fanatic since its inception,” said he’s enjoyed plenty of success over the years. He says this year alone he’s taken home more than $80,000 in total Lottery winnings across different games and prize levels. He credits his good fortune to “God and good karma.”

The day he purchased his winning ticket, the player stopped by Express Mart at 15709 Hall Road in Bowie, and decided to play his neighbor’s address, 13605, as his numbers.

“I had just finished cutting her grass, and the address popped in my head,” he said.

When he checked his ticket the next day, he was stunned to see he’d matched all five digits and won the game’s $50,000 top prize. He quickly booked an appointment to claim his prize.

When asked about his plans for the winnings, the winner said he intends to deposit the money and take some time to decide how best to use it.

“I want to be smart about it, I’m going to put it in the bank until I come up with a secure plan,” he said.

For selling the lucky ticket, Express Mart in Bowie receives a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
