Lucky Player Quick-Picks Her Way to $50,000 Powerball Prize

Gwynn Oak woman one of two third-tier Maryland winners in June drawing

The second of the two Maryland Powerball players who enjoyed an unforgettable night on June 2, winning a $50,000 third-tier prize, quietly claimed her prize this week.

The 73-year-old Baltimore-area resident bought the $4 quick-pick ticket for the June 2 drawing on the morning of the drawing. Her lucky Lottery retailer was Plaza Liquors located at 5722 Wabash Avenue in Baltimore.

One of the two lines of numbers on her winning ticket were 1, 6, 7, 11, 67 and a Powerball of 19. The winning numbers in the drawing were 6, 7, 11, 66 and 67; the Powerball was 19. The Gwynn Oak community resident only missed the top prize by one number!

The lucky lady is one of 31 Marylanders who have won $50,000 third-tier prizes in 2021. Players can try their luck, too, in the next Powerball drawing on Saturday, July 10. The jackpot has rolled to $127 million with a cash option of $89.9 million.

Maryland is home to three Powerball jackpot wins: $731.1 million in January 2021 (Lonaconing, Allegany County); $128.8 million in December 2011 (Elkton, Cecil County) and $108.8 million in September 2011 (Abingdon, Harford County). In 2021, Maryland has had one $2 million Powerball winner and one $1 million winner.
