Carroll County resident win top prize on Gold Bar Bingo
A Manchester woman knows what she wants and likes when it comes to her scratch-offs. She drove to multiple Lottery retailers recently looking for the Gold Bar Bingo ticket. After a few stops, she found her game.
“I went to a few places looking for it, but found it at a liquor store,” she said.
When she scratched off her ticket at home, she started to see that she was a winner, but at first she didn’t realize just how large her prize was.
“I thought I had won $50. I had to keep checking. Then I saw it was $50,000,” she added.
The Carroll County resident said she enjoys playing scratch-offs like Gold Bar Bingo and crossword-style tickets because of the complexity of the games — they provide the opportunity to play for minutes instead of seconds.
“It takes a long time to play and that is what makes it fun,” she said.
The lucky winner has cleaned houses for more than 30 years and still works part-time. Despite the win, she has no plans for retirement. She said she would spend some of her winnings on a new roof and the rest will go into a savings account.
Gold Bar Bingo was launched on July 18, 2022 and this was the first of the game’s $50,000 top prizes to be claimed. Seven more of those top prizes remain unclaimed, along with eight $10,000 prizes, and thousands of prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
The retailer that sold her lucky ticket has reason to celebrate as well. Main Street Liquors at 907 South Main Street in Hampstead will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
