Odenton Grocery Sells $50,000-Winning Powerball Ticket

Players should check numbers from Wednesday’s drawing

The Maryland Lottery is looking for the lucky player who bagged a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket at an Anne Arundel County grocery store. The player bought the winning ticket in the Wednesday, May 12 drawing.

Even though no one hit the jackpot, there were 15,181 winning tickets sold in our state for prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000.

Weis Markets #070 located at 2294 Bluewater Boulevard in Odenton sold the lucky ticket. The winning numbers to match in the May 12 drawing were 1, 19, 20, 38 and 54; the Powerball was 17.

Lottery officials encourage all winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. Winners have 182 days to claim their prize in person at Lottery headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore.

The $50,000 winner can claim the prize by mail, in person by appointment or by dropping off the claim form, identification paperwork and winning ticket in the dropbox at Maryland Lottery headquarters, 1800 Washington Blvd., Baltimore. Winners of smaller prizes can claim them by mail, at Lottery retailers, at casinos, by appointment at Lottery headquarters or the dropbox at Lottery headquarters. The Powerball jackpot rolled to $183 million for the May 15 drawing with a cash option of $127.4 million.

This year, Maryland has had one $2 million Powerball win and one $1 million win. In 2021, the state has had 24 third-tier $50,000 winners.

Tickets cost $2 each. Odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 292 million to 1. Overall odds of winning any prize are about 25 to 1.
