Parkville Man Becomes First Gold X50 Top-Prize Winner

Baltimore City employee takes home $100,000

A Baltimore County resident was a first-time player of the Gold X50 scratch-off and he indeed struck gold, becoming its first $100,000 top-prize winner.

The Parkville man said he plays scratch-offs a few times a month and decided to try his luck with the new Gold X50 game. He purchased the scratch-off at Frankford Gardens Liquors at 5418 Sinclair Lane in Baltimore and immediately scanned it to find out if he won. Although very happy about his $100,000 win, he didn’t want to bring attention to himself in the store.

“I couldn’t believe it. I was excited but I kept it to myself,” he said. The 36-year-old is a Baltimore City employee. He arrived at Lottery headquarters the day after discovering his prize to claim his prize.

“I didn’t waste any time,” the lucky winner said, laughing. He plans to use some of the prize to pay off his car loan and is undecided on how to spend the rest of the winnings.

For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off, Frankford Gardens Liquors will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.

The Gold X50 went on sale Jan. 23 as a member of a family of Gold Multiplier games and with a Gold Multiplier second-chance promotion. There are nine $100,000 unclaimed prizes remaining along with nine second-tier prizes of $50,000. Other members of the scratch-off family are the $1 Gold X5, $2 Gold X10 and $5 Gold X20 games.
