A retired nursing assistant from Baltimore found herself passing by a Lottery machine while exiting a Walmart. With $20 to spare, she bought three scratch-off tickets. She first tried her hand at the newly released 2nd edition of the THE BIG SPIN scratch-off. Without much luck on the $5 ticket, she spent her remaining $10 on a Scratch & Match scratch-off and it turned out to be a $100,000 top prize winner.
She claimed her winnings and told her story of winning April 10 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
Her winning ticket was purchased at the Walmart at 112 Carroll Island Road in Middle River. After having no luck on either THE BIG SPIN ticket, she knew she was going to go with either one of two options for another scratch-off. It was either going to be a crossword ticket, which is not her favorite game to play, or the Scratch & Match. The Scratch & Match ticket is what she selected and it turned out to be the perfect choice.
The retiree scanned her ticket while in the store. When she read the message to “see the lottery,” she knew she had a winner but was unsure of the amount. After scanning the ticket again using the Lottery app, she saw that she had a $100,000 top prize winner. Her husband, who was there with her, also took a hard look at the winning ticket and excitement set in for both of them.
The winner is no stranger to winning Lottery prizes. She said she was able to capture a $5,000 prize and then a $3,000 prize on two different scratch-offs in the past.
Her plans for her winnings are just to place the money in a savings account and use it take care of her family.
The Walmart on Carroll Road will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling a winning scratch-off worth $100,000.
The $10 Scratch & Match ticket was launched in mid-March. This win is the second of 10 top prizes on the game to be claimed. There are still two $50,000 prizes as well as many thousands of smaller prizes remaining.
