The Week in Winners: Powerball Jackpot Highlights Week of Big Prizes Across Maryland

Lottery players won or claimed $32.2 million in addition to the Powerball jackpot during week ending Jan. 24

The so-far unclaimed Powerball jackpot of $731.1 million won in Allegany County dominated Lottery news last week. But aside from that historic win, Lottery players won or claimed nearly $32.2 million across the state for the week ending Jan. 24.

In addition to the massive jackpot, the Jan. 20 Powerball drawing produced a $2 million second-tier win in Hagerstown. Other noteworthy prizes in the past week included a $1 million Mega Millions hit in Westminster, a $138,442 FAST PLAY progressive jackpot in Taneytown and four scratch-off prizes of $100,000 each in Baltimore, Dundalk, Glen Burnie and Salisbury.

In all, 36 Lottery players won or claimed prizes of $10,000 or more in the seven days ending Jan. 24, including, of course, the big Powerball win.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only.

All Lottery retailers are authorized to cash winning tickets up to $600, and approximately 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) retailers are authorized to cash tickets valued up to $5,000. Prizes up to and including $25,000 can be claimed at any of Maryland’s six casinos with no appointment necessary. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
