The Powerball jackpot continued building last week, reaching an annuity value of $905 million for the Aug. 10 drawing. But the Maryland Lottery’s biggest prize of the past week was a $1 million scratch-off win in Perryville. Another scratch-off worth $100,000 delivered a big prize in Capitol Heights.
Lottery scratch-offs and draw games also produced six $50,000 prizes last week in Harford, Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. All told, the Lottery paid more than $31.5 million in prizes from August 3-9, including 25 tickets that won prizes of $10,000 or more.
If the Powerball jackpot is won on Monday night at $905 million, it would be the eighth-largest in the game’s history. The estimated cash value for Monday’s drawing is $391.9 million. Since the last Powerball jackpot was hit on May 2, Powerball players in Maryland have won nearly $7 million in prizes, including a pair of $1 million prizes in College Park and Odenton; a $100,000 prize in Edgewood; and 15 prizes of $50,000 in Annapolis (2), Belcamp, Beltsville, Bethesda, Catonsville, Gaithersburg, Greenbelt, Hyattsville, North Beach, North East, Nottingham, Sykesville, Waldorf and Wheaton.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing date. FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after purchase. The last dates to claim for scratch-off tickets are posted on the scratch-offs page at mdlottery.com.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any of the six casinos in Maryland. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations.
