Trio of Racetrax Horses Gallop to $30,734 Prize

David Castro of Laurel put three Racetrax horses to the test and they passed with flying colors, giving him a $30,734 Trifecta win.

Using Trifecta bet, higher numbers helped increase prize

David Castro loves to play Racetrax. The loyal Laurel player has purchased a Racetrax ticket almost every day for the past 10 years. His persistence paid off on Nov. 28, when he won $30,734.

“It is hard to hit it, but when you do, it is a nice payout,” he said about the game.

The Prince George’s County man loves to use a high-risk, high-reward mentality. He said many Racetrax players like to play it safe with low numbers but he plays high numbers. That was his winning strategy when his Trifecta bet led to his big score.

“I like to use the higher numbers 10, 11, 12. The higher the number, the more you can win,” David explained. The probability of his combination winning was 45454.55 to 1.

The 49-year-old works for a home improvement company. He plans to invest the money into his home and added that he will use some funds to purchase extra gifts for the holiday season.

David purchased his winning ticket at Kenilworth Sunoco located at 4836 Kenilworth Avenue in Hyattsville. For selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, the Prince George’s County retailer will receive a 1 percent bonus of $307.34 from the Lottery.

The Kenilworth Sunoco has been a lucky Racetrax retailer in 2022. A Charles County woman won $30,946 in May with a ticket bought at the store and a Prince George’s County woman also won $30,946 in July.
