Fortunate player wins $100,000 playing the Bingo X10 scratch-off game

“Everything happens for a reason” is what a 50-year-old Frederick woman told Lottery officials when claiming her $100,000 top prize on a Bingo X10 scratch-off. She was grocery shopping when good luck rolled her way.

The anonymous player, who chose the nickname “Frederick Roller,” was in a Food Lion in Frederick on Saturday when she decided to purchase a variety of scratch-off games. Her choices included two of the $10 Bingo X10 4th Edition instant tickets. She scratched them all off in the store and it appeared that she won $50.

“I saw that $50 and I thought, ‘Is that it?’” she said. But then, “Frederick Roller” scanned the last scratch-off in the group, one of the Bingo X10 instant tickets, and the message told her to take it to the Lottery. She let the cashier check the ticket for a prize and learned she won a whopping $100,000!

“I just felt sick to my stomach,” said the big winner. “But, a good sick.”

Knowing the steps to claiming a prize, the retired army reservist and current federal government employee immediately signed the back of the ticket. She called her father and her best friend to share the good news and, when at home, put the lucky scratch-off in a lock box.

The married mother of two made an appointment to claim her big prize and paid Lottery headquarters a very special visit. “Frederick Roller” shared with Lottery officials that she plans to pay off some credit card debt, give a donation to her church and save the rest to help her move into a new home.

Her lucky retailer, Food Lion #1162, is located at 2060 Yellow Springs Road in Frederick. The store earns a bonus of $1,000 from the Lottery for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

The Bingo X10 4th Edition game is packed with more prizes. There are five more $100,000 top prizes remaining, 12 $10,000 prizes remaining and hundreds of thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
