Eastern Shore Woman Claims $100,000 Prize on Scratch-Off Ticket

What started out as a store run for snacks ended with an Eastern Shore women scoring a $100,000 prize. The Caroline County player’s mantra of you “must play to win” led her to put down $50 on a $5,000,000 Cash scratch-off ticket that ended up being a second-tier $100,000 winner.

The winner visited the Goose Creek convenience store at 10519 Greensboro Road in Denton and decided to play. Generally, she isn’t partial to scratch-off tickets, but she’s open to playing all Maryland Lottery games, and has scored wins of a few dollars here and there. Indeed, it was a $290 prize she won playing the daily Pick 4 game that covered the $50 cost of her winning $5,000,000 Cash ticket.

Later in the day after she returned home, she got around to scratching her ticket. She shouted in pleased disbelief when she revealed it was a winning ticket. She matched five winning numbers at $10,000 a pop. And then there was one 50X the prize for $1,000 win that brought total winnings to $100,000.

After discovering her prize, she called and shared the news with her son.

The winner is twice retired from state employment as a correctional officer. She plans to use her winnings to square her finances.

The $5,000,000 Cash ticket was launched in February of 2024. It began with four $5 million top-prizes and ten $100,000 prizes. There are still several prizes remaining, including two top-prizes and six $100,000 prizes.
