Good Samaritan Feeling Blessed after $30,946 Racetrax Win

Baltimore man wins with Trifecta bet

“Doing good deeds for others really does pay off,” said a happy Baltimore man who considers himself blessed after winning $30,946 with a Racetrax Trifecta bet.

The 56-year-old, who works full time taking care of adults with disabilities, found his lucky ticket at the nearby Woodmoor Shell Food Mart located at 7001 Liberty Road in Baltimore. He seldom plays Lottery games, the player said, and when he does it is usually not Racetrax. However, on this particular day, he decided to give the popular horseracing game a try.

Before placing any bets, the player consulted with a few of the seasoned Racetrax enthusiasts that frequent the store. They advised him to bet on higher-numbered horses, especially 10, 11 and 12. He took a chance and placed a Trifecta bet for 20 races that the 11, 10 and 12 horses would come in first, second and third place in that exact order.

The anonymous winner learned of his Lottery luck later when he got to work. As soon as the man realized he had a new $30,946 fortune coming his way, he thought first about helping others. The happy player plans to give a few close family members some needed financial assistance. After taking care of his family, he plans to save the rest of his fortune.

His lucky Baltimore County retailer, Woodmoor Shell Food Mart, will receive a $309.46 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
