Improvements to Lottery Mobile App, Website Coming in April

Technology upgrades will enhance players’ experiences

The Maryland Lottery will soon consolidate two of its mobile apps into one, making it easier to access all the information you need in one place. The change is part of a technology upgrade that also includes an update to the mdlottery.com website.

The app changes and website refresh are scheduled to take place Monday, April 1. Players who already have the current Maryland Lottery app on their mobile devices need not take any action — the app will be updated automatically on April 1.

The improved app will, for the first time, include Keno and Racetrax functions that are currently only available in a separate app. Along with the upgrades to the Maryland Lottery app, the Lottery will retire its Keno / Racetrax app on April 1.

Before deciding to merge the Keno/Racetrax app into the Maryland Lottery app, the Lottery conducted focus groups with players. The findings helped the Lottery improve the app to provide a better player experience.

The update will help players access winning numbers and jackpot information more quickly. A preference center in the app will enable users to customize the placement of information so that the home screen prominently displays the information they look for most often.

The updated app will also allow for the addition of animation and video. Keno players, for example, will see animated screens on the app that better resemble the experience of watching Keno games at retail locations. Additional varieties of animated Keno screens will be added in the future.

As for the website updates, look for more info on new promotions, more visible winner and Lottery news along with announcements of additional winning opportunities.

There are no changes being made to the My Lottery Rewards app, which enables players to enter tickets into second-chance promotions and accumulate points that can be redeemed for items at an online store.
