IT Professional Plays It Cool after $50,000 Powerball Win

Claims third-tier prize in Oct. 22 drawing

Like players around the nation, an Upper Marlboro man finds it hard to resist taking shots at the constantly rising Powerball jackpot. Once the jackpot climbed to $550 million last month, the 37-year-old bet $10 for one draw. He didn’t take home the jackpot that night, but he did turn that $10 bet into a $50,000 reward.

The information technology professional found his lucky ticket at Express Mart located at 15709 Hall Road in Bowie. He randomly selected numbers for this ticket without any rhyme or reason. After learning that he won, the jackpot chaser just played it cool. He did share the great news with his family.

When asked of his plans for his prize, the happy winner said he will pay off bills.

There are still hours to go to buy tickets for the Monday, Nov. 7 Powerball drawing, which has an estimated record $1.9 billion jackpot up for grabs. The estimated cash option is $929.1 million.
