Claims $50,000 prize on Pick 5 ticket
Sometimes all one needs is a creative spark. And sometimes creativity can be spawned through imitation. Such is the case for one Brandywine woman who used someone else’s Pick 5 numbers and came away with her own $50,000 pay day.
The 68-year-old woman bought her ticket at Three Road Liquors located at 13704 Brandywine Rd. in Brandywine. She sends her son in to play her numbers for her. One particular time he just happened to catch a glimpse of someone else’s Pick 5 ticket. Upon seeing another set of numbers, he decided he would try them for his mother.
While at the doctor’s office later that day, the lucky woman checked the winning numbers through the Maryland Lottery app on her phone. It was at this point that she realized she had won $50,000. She was so excited that she had to calm herself down before driving home from the doctor’s office.
“This is much needed relief money,” the happy woman said. She plans to use her winnings to pay off bills and on home improvements.
Three Road Liquors also collects a $500 bonus for selling a Pick 5 winning ticket worth $50,000.
