Middle River Woman Wins Second $50,000 Lottery Prize in Three Months

While there is no such thing as a pattern when it comes to random Maryland Lottery drawings, a Middle River woman says she sometimes feels confident about particular combinations of numbers. When she does, she buys her tickets and waits to see if her intuition pays off.

The practice appears to be working. On Feb. 15, she won her second $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize in recent months.

The lucky winner said she likes to study winning numbers to see if she gets her confident feeling. From a cold statistical perspective, results of previous drawings have no influence on what the numbers will be in any upcoming drawing. In Bonus Match 5, the odds of matching all five numbers to win the $50,000 top prize are always 1 in 575,757, even if those five numbers were drawn the day before.

Noting her sense of spirituality, she said she likes to think she has a gift. “I see things a lot of folks can’t see,” she said.

She broke into songs of praise on Feb. 18 when she visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the second of her $50,000 prizes and related how the winnings have allowed her to help her adult children when they’ve faced difficult times. She added that she’s also made progress in paying down her mortgage.

Her other $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize came in December, with both tickets purchased at Compass Beer Pump at 3 Compass Road in Middle River. The shop received a bonus of $500 for selling each of the winning tickets.

After her second big Bonus Match 5 win, she says she has a feeling she may need to change games. It is a certainty, however, that she will keep on playing.

“You can’t win if you don’t play!” she said.
