Baltimore man claims $50,000 prize on Bonus Match 5 quick-pick ticket
It felt like a long time coming, according to the lucky Baltimore man. The avid Maryland Lottery player has won small prizes in the past but said he “finally got his big Lottery payday” by nabbing a $50,000 top prize playing Bonus Match 5.
The lucky 72-year-old made a random stop at Woodmoor Shell Food Mart located at 7001 Liberty Road in Baltimore. While there, he decided to try his Lottery luck and bought a $6 Bonus Match 5 ticket in the March 17 drawing. A random stop plus a set of his lucky numbers gave the happy winner his largest prize yet.
“I am very thankful,” the happy winner said. So far, he has only told a few friends about his prize. When asked of his plans for the windfall, he said the funds will go to pay bills.
The Lottery has had 17 top-prize Bonus Match 5 winners in 2021. Woodmoor Shell Food Mart also gets a bonus. The Baltimore County retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket.
