A Calvert County man says his $50,000 Powerball win in the May 6 drawing justifies his decision to focus his play on the big jackpot games offered by the Lottery. He described the prize as “life-changing,” and characterizes it as a gift that had arrived at just the right time.
The legal professional is a frequent player, he said during his May 15 visit to Baltimore to claim his prize.
“Powerball, Mega Millions and Multi-Match – every drawing,” he said. “I also play the daily games sometimes if a specific number combination sticks in my head.”
When asked the significance of the numbers he picked that ended up delivering his $50,000 third-tier win, he explained his process.
“I keep track of winning numbers from the previous weeks. They help me decide.”
While no system can predict Lottery results because previous drawings have no influence over future drawings, you’ll find it difficult to get him off of his number selection process. In his view, he has 50,000 arguments on his side.
The North Beach resident said he was sure a mistake had been made when the Lottery app on his phone announced his win after he scanned his ticket, so he eventually decided to drive to a Lottery retailer to confirm his good luck.
“I looked at it again and again, thinking, ‘This can’t be right.’ There were more zeroes than I’m used to seeing.”
But it turned out the app was absolutely right.
The northern Calvert County winner has the folks at the Fastop store at 8834 Chesapeake Avenue in North Beach to thank for selling him his lucky ticket.
