Three Lottery Winners Set to Travel to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympic Games

Esmerelda Encarnacion, Michael Mattera and Jenifer Droneberger will be headed to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games thanks to the Keno Team USA™ second-chance promotion.

Five Maryland Lottery players are heading to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The final three Keno Team USA™ second-chance promotion trip winners have claimed their prizes.

Jenifer Droneberger from North Beach, Esmerelda Encarnacion from Silver Spring and Michael Mattera from West River have each won a VIP trip for two that includes round-trip airfare, five nights deluxe hotel accommodations, tickets to four Olympic events, meals, ground transportation, $1,000 spending money and Team USA apparel.

Players who purchased and entered $1 worth of Keno tickets into My Lottery Rewards between Jan. 5 and Feb. 22 were automatically entered into the promotion.

Each winner has their own Olympic dreams and hopes for their upcoming trip:

Esmerelda Encarnacion said she and her husband are hoping to see some of the gymnastic competitions. “It is a dream to be able to go to the summer games,” she said.

Although he has only travelled to Los Angeles for work, Michael Mattera said he is excited to return – this time with his daughter along. He said he would love to see golf or the Olympic marathoners.

As members of a family passionate for competitive volleyball, Jenifer Droneberger explained that both she and her son will be excited to travel and possibly see Olympic-level beach and court volleyball.

Jocelyn Johnson of Fort Washington and Barbara Henderson of Silver Spring will join these three winners in 2028. They claimed their prizes earlier this year.
