Time Stood Still for Dundalk Winner of $50,000 Scratch-off Prize

Finds final top prize in Holiday Luck X5 game.

For a moment, the Dundalk woman said, it seemed as if time stopped. The 51-year-old recalls staring at the screen on a Lottery retailer’s ticket checker in disbelief when the message confirmed a $50,000 top-prize win on a Holiday Luck X5 scratch-off!

Although the holidays are long gone, the joy of winning is not. The Baltimore County woman told Lottery officials she purchased the game on her way home from work. When she checked to see which scratch-offs were available at South Marlyn Inn in Baltimore, the loyal player saw just two Holiday Luck X5 instant tickets remaining. She purchased the pair of scratch-offs, feeling that they were somehow lucky, and continued home.

She scratched the instant tickets off later that evening and uncovered several matching numbers plus a 5X over a $1,000 prize on one scratch-off. Hoping to make sense of what she was seeing, the player returned to a Lottery retailer and scanned the instant ticket.

Her excitement was overwhelming when the prize amount flashed back at her on the device’s screen. She told Lottery officials that she recalls screaming and running around the store.

“I died inside and then woke back up,” said the winner. What’s next? The lucky lady said she is still trying to absorb the reality of the win and hasn’t allowed herself to think yet about what to do with her $50,000 prize.

The lucky instant ticket contained the final $50,000 top prize remaining on the Holiday Luck X5 scratch-off, which went on sale with $1, $2 and $10 Holiday Luck instant tickets in October. The $5 game still has more than 103,000 prizes available ranging from $5 to $5,000. Be sure to claim prizes promptly; the Lottery has issued a last date for claims of Nov. 1, 2021, for this game and the $1 Holiday Luck and $2 Holiday Luck X2 games.

Also a winner is South Marlyn Inn located at 727 South Marlyn Avenue in Essex. For selling a top-prize winning Holiday Luck X5 scratch-off, the Baltimore County retailer earned a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
