“Larry” of Oxon Hill is pondering a Florida beach vacation after winning $50,000 on the 20X The Cash game.
Brainstorming session also in the works for use of prize
It started about a decade ago when he bought his first scratch-off and won a small amount. The Oxon Hill man has continued playing, winning a little here and there, but when he bought a $5 20X The Cash scratch-off recently at a local gas station, he was rewarded with a $50,000 payday.
“I play here and there and I got lucky,” said the man, who is going by the nickname “Larry” to tell his winning tale.
Over the years, “Larry” has enjoyed playing instant tickets, mainly because of the suspense he experiences when scratching to reveal whether it is a winner. With some instant tickets, it’s necessary to add up the proceeds from multiple scratches but his lucky scratch-off had a single match for the top prize.
Asked how he plans to spend the money, “Larry” said, “I’m going to be doing some brainstorming.” He does plan to spend a portion of the prize on a vacation to Florida with his son. “I want to hang out on the beach and walk the sands,” he said.
“Larry” plans to continue playing the Lottery, mainly scratch-off games, but he also has a soft spot for the computer-animated Racetrax game.
He bought the winning instant ticket at the Livingston Road BP station, which is located at 5507 Livingston Road in Oxon Hill. The Prince George’s County store receives a bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the prize, from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off.
