“Blessed” of Elkton plans to invest some of his prize into a CD and put the rest into savings.
Claims a top prize on Big Money instant ticket
A scratch-off player from Elkton followed directions from his daughter to buy several Big Money instant tickets and is he ever glad he did! The “Blessed” father of three won one of the game’s $50,000 top prize.
“I wasn’t going to play that one but my daughter talked me into it,” said the anonymous Cecil County resident, who selected the nickname “Blessed” to tell the story of his Lottery luck.
He bought his tickets at 7-Eleven #34749 in Elkton and his scratch-off loving daughter was by his side when he scratched them. “Blessed” found the big win hidden on the last row in the last block of one of the $5 games. The $50,000 prize appeared beneath a symbol of a stack of cash.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. As soon as he shared the news with his wife and another daughter, all four of them began a whirlwind celebration. “We started dancing and singing,” he recalled.
The lucky winner, who works in the healthcare field, plans to put some of the prize into a CD and the rest into savings, with an eye toward possibly moving to a new home.
The Big Money game went on sale in March 2023 and started eight top prizes — one of which remains unclaimed. The game also has three $5,000 second-tier prizes awaiting discovery along with others ranging from $5 to $1,000.
His lucky Cecil County Lottery retailer is also a winner. For selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, 7-Eleven #34749 located at 321 North Street in Elkton will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
