The Week in Winners: Four Racetrax Players Win Big as Long-Odds Horses Lead the Pack

Players across Maryland won more than $28.5 million during week ending July 10

Four fans of the Maryland Lottery’s computer-animated Racetrax horse racing simulation game defied the longest odds and each won $62,576 on July 9 on tickets sold in Baltimore, Germantown, Landover and Oxon Hill.

Racetrax horses are numbered 1 through 12, and the game delivers its largest payouts when the highest-numbered horses finish in the top four. In one particular race on July 9, the order of finish was 12,9,10,11, which pays $625,760 on a $1 Superfecta straight bet, where players win by picking the exact order of finish. A more popular wager among Racetrax enthusiasts is to play the four horses with the longest odds on a Superfecta box bet, where players win if the horses they picked are the first four to cross the finish line in any order. The four players in Baltimore, Germantown, Landover and Oxon Hill boxed their wagers and bet 10 cents on each possible combination, landing prizes of $62,576 each.

The big Racetrax wins were among 32 winning tickets worth $10,000 or more that were sold or redeemed in the seven days ending July 10, and the Lottery paid more than $28.5 million in prizes during that span.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
