The Week in Winners: Lottery Makes Millionaires in Frederick, Gaithersburg; Big Wins in Cumberland, Glenarden

Across Maryland, prizes total nearly $28.6 million, with 60 tickets worth $10,000 or more

Two Maryland Lottery tickets worth $1 million each were sold last week in Frederick and Gaithersburg, a player in Cumberland hit Multi-Match for $560,000, and 25 Bonus Match 5 tickets sold at the same time at the same shop in Glenarden are worth a cumulative total of $576,900.

Across Maryland, the Lottery paid nearly $28.6 million in prizes during the seven-day period ending July 21, including 60 tickets worth $10,000 or more that were sold or redeemed during that span.

Bonus Match 5 usually has a prize of $50,000, however the prize pool has a limit of $600,000, so anytime more than 12 winning tickets are sold for a single drawing, the pool is divided among the winning tickets. In addition to the 25 winning tickets in Glenarden, a 26th winning ticket was sold in Forest Hill, so the prize pool is divided into 26 shares of $23,076 each.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
