Maryland Lottery prizes total more than $31.3 million, with 44 tickets worth $10,000 or more
As the Mega Millions jackpot bounced to the serious daydream amount of $800 million, one Maryland Lottery player in Dunkirk hit for a third-tier prize of $40,000 and three other tickets worth $10,000 each were bought in Capitol Heights, Olney and Pasadena.
Meanwhile, the biggest single-ticket win of the week was a $100,000 prize on a scratch-off sold in Cambridge, even as a bouquet of seven 50-cent Pick 5 tickets all sold on the same day at the same grocery store in Owings Mills and generated $175,000 in prize money.
Across Maryland, the Lottery paid more than $31.3 million in prizes during the seven-day period ending Sept. 8, including 44 tickets worth $10,000 or more that were sold or redeemed during that span.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at cashiers’ windows at Maryland casinos or at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
