A Powerball jackpot run that is now entering its fourth month produced a pair of $1 million prizes in Maryland last week. But neither of those was the Maryland Lottery’s biggest win of the week.
The two $1 million Powerball prizes came in tickets sold July 28 in Odenton and July 31 in College Park as excitement continued to build with the jackpot rolling to an estimated annuity value of $748 million for the Aug. 3 drawing (estimated cash value $325.1 million). The last time the jackpot was hit was May 2, with two tickets in Florida and Texas splitting the prize. Powerball drawings are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 p.m.
Meanwhile a FAST PLAY Ultimate Payday ticket sold July 29 in Catonsville delivered a progressive jackpot prize of $2,205,023. Ultimate Payday is a $30 ticket with a progressive jackpot that starts at $500,000 and increases with the sale of each ticket until a jackpot-winning ticket is sold.
During the week of July 27-Aug. 2, a total of 24 tickets statewide delivered Lottery prizes of $10,000 or more and the total winnings for all prizes statewide came to more than $28.8 million.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing date. FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after purchase. The last dates to claim for scratch-off tickets are posted on the scratch-offs page at mdlottery.com.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any of the six casinos in Maryland. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets worth up to and including $600. More information is available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website.
