Players across Maryland won more than $34.8 million during week ending June 12
Winning a $1 straight bet on Pick 5 pays a $50,000 prize, but buying multiple tickets quickly turns a big prize into a really big prize, as a Washington, D.C., resident recently found out. She bought $9 worth of tickets with the same numbers, and when those numbers hit, she landed $450,000 in prizes — the biggest Maryland Lottery win of the week.
The nine Pick 5 tickets were among 50 Maryland Lottery tickets worth $10,000 or more that were sold or redeemed in the seven days ending June 12, and the Lottery paid a total of more than $34.8 million in prizes during that span.
The player who landed the unusually large Pick 5 win bought nine tickets for the June 8 evening drawing at Best 1 Food Market at 4225 Southern Avenue in Capitol Heights. She bought the tickets the morning of the drawing and played the numbers 2-4-5-6-5. She visited the Lottery’s office in Baltimore to claim her prizes on June 10.
Best 1 Food Market will receive a total bonus of $4,500 — a $500 bonus for each of the nine tickets.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
