Statewide prizes for past week total nearly $35 million as 43 tickets deliver prizes of $10,000 or more
A $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot was hit in Oregon in the April 6 drawing, but the game made two Maryland Lottery millionaires in Maryland last week.
A Powerball player in Annapolis bought two tickets each worth $1 million, and there was another $1 million winner in Jessup. Meanwhile, players in Baltimore, Bowie, Boyds, California, Elkton, Frederick, Hyattsville, Oxon Hill and Silver Spring each won $50,000 third-tier Powerball prizes.
Powerball was far from the only game to produce winners in Maryland last week. In all, 43 Maryland Lottery tickets worth $10,000 or more were purchased or claimed in the week ending April 7, and players won prizes totaling nearly $35 million in that span.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
